You can use your Volvo On Call app to see whether or not you locked your car so that you do not have to go back to check. The app shows you the current lock status, and you can both lock and unlock your car remotely. You can also unlock your car via Volvo On Call customer service.
To lock or unlock your car via your Volvo On Call app, follow the instructions below.
Log in to your Volvo On Call app and select the Doors & Locks menu. This shows you the current lock status for your car and the time of the latest update.
To lock your car, select the Lock menu and press the padlock symbol Lock.
The theft alarm will be enabled when you lock your Volvo. Note that for safety reasons, the car can still be opened from the inside.
To unlock your car, select the Lock menu and press the padlock symbol Unlock.
Input your password. This is the same password that you use to log in to your Volvo On Call app, i.e. your Volvo ID password.
After acknowledging in the Volvo On Call app, pull the tailgate handle to complete unlocking of the car (for security reasons). If this is not done within two minutes, the tailgate will automatically relock itself.
To unlock your car via Volvo On Call customer service:
Call the Volvo On Call customer service number in the country in which you are located, or use the assistance function in your Volvo On Call app to get in touch with a Volvo On Call operator (Contact Volvo On Call customer service).
For the operator to be able to unlock your Volvo, you must identify yourself as the car’s owner (or another authorised person) by stating your four-digit Volvo On Call PIN code. You will then agree with the operator on when your car is to be unlocked.
To execute unlocking, you must physically pull the tailgate handle (for security reasons).
If nothing happens when you press Unlock in the Volvo On Call app, this may be because there is a delay of a few seconds before the instruction is transmitted to the car via the GSM network.
The car not being unlocked may also be because you have not pulled the boot lid handle. You have to do this, for security reasons. If the boot lid is not opened, the car will remain locked and the boot lid will relock itself after 2 minutes.
To save the battery when the car is not used for any length of time, set the Volvo On Call device to standby mode. Depending on the car model, this means that you will not be able to contact your car via the Volvo On Call app if the engine has been off for more than 14 days. For more information, see Volvo On Call Standby mode (Stand by).
If unlocking notifications are activated, you will receive push notifications if your Volvo has been unlocked for more than 30 minutes. To activate/deactivate this:
Log in to the Volvo On Call app and go to Settings.
Select General and then Notifications.
Activate/deactivate notifications by enabling/disabling the Your Volvo is unlocked option.
