When you connect a Bluetooth® device you can do this from either the device or your Volvo. This article describes how to set up a connection (pair) from a Bluetooth® device (e.g. mobile phone or tablet) to your Volvo.
To set up a Bluetooth® connection, view the video tutorials or follow the instructions below.
There are two different versions of the infotainment system. To see which version is installed in your car, check whether the connect button is present . If present, go to section Sensus Connect, otherwise go to section Sensus.
On the centre console: Press TEL or MEDIA.
On the centre console: Press OK/MENU and select Make car discoverable.
On your phone/media device: Go to Bluetooth®Settings and search for devices.
On your phone/media device: Select your car's name.
Make sure that the code displayed in your phone/media device is the same as the one shown on the screen in the car. If so, accept the code in both places.
On your phone: Accept or reject any choices regarding its phone book and messages (only applies to some phone models).
The phone/media device is now paired with your Volvo. If this method is unsuccessful, press EXIT and follow the instructions in Pair your Volvo with a Bluetooth® device or contact your Volvo dealer.
On the centre console: Turn on OK/MENU and Phone settings.
On the centre console: Select Discoverable and press OK/MENU.
On your phone/media device: Select My Volvo Car on the phone/media device and follow the instructions to complete the procedure.
Enter a code of your choice in the external device.
Enter the same code in the vehicle using the centre console keypad and press OK/MENU.
When your phone/media device has been paired and selected, its name will be shown on the Sensus Infotainment screen and the device can be controlled from the car.
This procedure only has to be performed once. Your Volvo will then connect automatically to your device when it is within range, as long as Bluetooth® is enabled.
If your mobile phone's operating system is updating, this may interrupt the connection between the phone and the car. If this happens, delete the phone from the list of paired phones (see Remove a Bluetooth device from your Volvo) and repeat the pairing procedure described in this article.
