Voice recognition allows you to control functions in the car, e.g. reading out text messages from a connected mobile phone.
A mobile phone must be connected to the car before voice commands to the mobile phone can be used. For information on how to connect a mobile phone to the car, see Connect your mobile phone to the car via Bluetooth.
To read out a text message, press the voice recognition button on the right-hand side of the steering wheel and say "Read message".
To read out text messages from an iPhone, you need to change a setting on your phone so that messages can be sent from the phone to the car, see instructions below.
On your iPhone: Go to "Settings".
On your iPhone: Select "Bluetooth".
On your iPhone: Click on the info symbol (i) for the connection to your car.
On your iPhone: Enable "Show notifications".
Volvo will be launching an update to its voice recognition system later in 2015. This will allow you to dictate text messages and reply to incoming text messages.
