There are various language settings for the voice recognition system in your Volvo. This article describes the languages available and the language settings possible for these.
The voice recognition system has one language activated at a time, and this is the same language as the one shown in the car's display. If the system language set for the car is not supported by voice recognition, the voice recognition function is disabled.
The following system languages are supported: English (UK), English (US), Flemish, French, French (Canada), Italian, Chinese (Mandarin), Dutch, Russian, Spanish, Spanish (Latin America), Swedish and German.
To change the voice recognition language, you need to change the system language in the car. The change of language also impacts on the car's display texts. If the voice recognition symbol appears next to the language, the language is supported by voice recognition.
Press Settings in top view.
Press SystemLanguage and select a language.
There are instructions below on how to pronounce addresses or contacts specified in languages other than the system language selected for voice recognition.
When you specify an address, the search range is defined for the search range preset in the navigation system. If you want to change the search range (country or state), say "Change country" or "Change state". When you have changed the search range, you can specify an address in the country or state selected.
If the country selected uses a language other than the set system language, the system will automatically switch to a different recognition engine. Therefore, specify the address in the language of the destination country.
The pronunciation of contacts of various nationalities from the phone book is not supported in different languages. To call a contact of a nationality other than the system language, try to pronounce the contact in the selected system language (i.e. perhaps not the way the name ought to be pronounced).
