In our XC90, it’s called T8 Twin Engine because it uses our most powerful Drive-E petrol engine together with an electric motor. And as you’d expect, it has full four-wheel drive capability.

Imagine commuting to work without using a single drop of fuel. Now you can: our V60 D6 Twin Engine can travel up to 31 miles and our XC90 T8 Twin Engine AWD can travel up to 27 miles on electric power alone – and with zero emissions from the tailpipe in electric-only mode. And because the fuel engine is always there to back you up, you’ll have none of the ‘range anxiety’ associated with pure electric vehicles.
POD Point Charging
Volvo Car UK has partnered with POD Point to answer your charging needs, be it at home or at work. POD Point are able to offer a charging solution to meet your specific requirements to ensure you receive the maximum benefit of owning a plug-in hybrid. Currently, the Office of Low Emissions offer a grant towards the purchase of a domestic charging point (capped at £500 incl VAT), more information on the different charging solutions can be found below.

Hybrid Mode
Hybrid mode uses both the electric and petrol motors, optimised for performance, fuel consumption and comfort.

Pure Mode
Commuting to work? Switch to pure mode for short trips across town. You’ll use zero fuel and produce zero emissions – and travel in whisper-quiet comfort.

Power Mode
Use power mode for sporty, quick-response driving with sharper throttle response, and all four wheels driven.

Save Mode
Switch to ‘save’ to ensure that battery charge will be available to you later in your journey – so if you’re heading into a city, you’ll always have battery power.
Pure hybrid power
Just like our XC90 T8 Twin Engine, the V60 D6 AWD Plug-in Hybrid delivers brilliant fuel economy and low emissions, plus fantastic performance – how good does a 0-60mph sprint in just 5.8 seconds sound? And for many, memories of fuel pump forecourts could become just that – memories. In pure electric mode, you can cover up to 31 miles of zero-emissions driving – ideal for commuting.
