TRULY GLOBAL, PROUDLY SCANDINAVIAN
Our core strength comes from our people.
The first Volvo rolled off the production line in Gothenburg way back in 1927 and since then, we’ve gone from strength to strength, creating world-changing innovations along the way.
We’re also a global brand with manufacturing in Sweden, Belgium and China.
Volvo Car Group produces a premium range of cars that includes sedans, wagons, sportswagons, cross country cars and SUVs.
Volvo Car Group (Volvo Cars) is owned by Zhejiang Geely Holding (Geely Holding) of China.
Board of Directors and Executive Management Team
We are proud of the quality and depth of knowledge contained in our management team and board. Between them, they have centuries of experience.
Responsible business
Our comprehensive Code of Conduct, which is based on existing policies, is our way of ensuring that we conduct business in an ethical and compliant way. The Code applies to everyone within Volvo Cars, as well as consultants and agency personnel working under the direction of Volvo Cars. We also expect that all of our business contacts and commercial partners should be governed by the same or similar principles stipulated in the Code of Conduct. It is also an important part of our commitment to Sustainability.
Our vision and mission
Our vision is to be the world’s most progressive and desired premium car brand. And we believe our global success will be driven by making life less complicated for people, while strengthening our commitment to safety, quality and the environment.
Progress in China
Volvo Cars’ continuing journey as a global brand took a giant leap forwards in November 2013, when our Chengdu plant opened in China. The first car to be built at Chengdu is the Volvo S60L, a long wheelbase model aimed specifically at the Chinese market.
Volvo Car Group also opened an engine plant in Zhangjiakou in 2013, and a second car manufacturing plant at Daqing is scheduled to open by the end of 2014. The importance Volvo places on China is also reflected in our R&D centre in Shanghai.
Our plants in China operate in full accordance with Volvo Cars manufacturing standards and procedures – equal to those of our European plants.
Star performer
China has quickly become the star performer among Volvo’s markets. In the first six months of 2014, some 38,555 cars were sold in the Chinese market – an increase of 34.3 percent compared to the first six months of 2013. Significantly, this means that China has now overtaken the United States to become Volvo Cars’ largest single market.
