Intellisafe Autopilot

Hand over control to your Volvo and enjoy the ride

Imagine being able to switch your car to autopilot, just like a plane, then simply sit back and relax. Sounds far-fetched? It’s not: soon, your Volvo will be able to steer, accelerate and brake itself, taking you safely and efficiently to your destination.

It’s arriving sooner than you might think. Self-driving Volvos are already on Swedish roads, and by 2017, real-world customers will be using 100 self-driving Volvos on public roadsthe world’s first large-scale autonomous drive project. It’s a partnership between Volvo Car Group, the Swedish Transport Administration, the Swedish Transport Agency, Lindholmen Science Park and the City of Gothenburg, and is endorsed by the Swedish Government.

It’s all part of Volvo Cars’ IntelliSafe approach, helping reduce stress for you and congestion on our roads.

Sit back and Relax

How will you use the extra time you’ll have when your car starts to drive itself? Relax with a newspaper? Meet those last-minute deadlines? Or read a story to the kids? What’s more, you won’t even need to stay in your car when it’s time to park ityou can leave it to find its own vacant spot and park by itself.

A new way of looking at the world

Self-driving vehicles open up exciting new possibilities for the way our world is designed. For example, we might be able to liberate extra space for pedestrians and cyclists by building cost-efficient, compact tunnels especially for self-driving cars.

It’s already here

You can already experience autonomous driving features in our cars. For instance, the all-new Volvo XC90 has automatic braking at intersectionsso if you turn in front of an oncoming vehicle, the car will apply the brakes for you.
