Cars have always been a symbol of freedom. Today, that freedom is being challenged by the heavy and unpredictable traffic commuters are forced to endure. At Volvo, we believe autonomous driving will recapture this freedom, allowing drivers to choose how every moment in the car is spent. This is what Concept 26 is all about.
The freedom of choice
The three modes of Concept 26 are specifically designed to make time in the car as meaningful as possible. Whether the driver chooses to drive, or delegate driving to the car, the interior transforms to create the perfect environment.

Create
The seat moves away from the wheel, giving the driver space to make calls, write emails or watch films and TV shows.

Drive
When the driver is fully engaged in the act of driving, they can focus purely on the joy of the open road.

Relax
With the seat reclined, the driver can enjoy a moment of quiet reflection and simply enjoy the journey.

IntelliSafe Autopilot
The Autopilot interface has been developed to ease the transfer of control between driver and car. In autonomous mode, the driver can always see what actions the car is about to take, whether changing lanes or overtaking. Meaning they’re never surprised or alarmed by its manoeuvres or behaviour.

Control time
The Time Circle displays the amount of autonomous driving time available, giving drivers a strategic level of control over their journey. That could mean choosing a longer route because it provides more delegated driving time.
Real innovation
IntelliSafe Autopilot will be in action for the first time when 100 real people take to the road in the new XC90, as part of Volvo’s Drive Me project in Gothenburg, Sweden in 2017.
